ENGLAND WILL BE POSITIVE

Liverpool striker Andy Carroll has said that England will not be going into the match against Ukraine with a negative attitude. The final group game against Ukraine can be the one that will ensure that England can play in the quarter-finals of the Euro 2012, and the man who is usually seen in a Liverpool Shirt is keen to impress.

Roy Hodgson’s men need only one point in order to ensure their qualification, but may need a win in order to make sure that they finish top of the group. Finishing top of the group will have many advantages, with the most likely being that they could avoid Spain in the quarter-final stage of the competition.

As a result, England will not be approaching the match against Ukraine in the negative attitude according to Andy Carroll, who scored the opening goal in a match against Sweden. The £ 35 million man has been ridiculed a lot in recent times, but he proved that he is on the way back after scoring in the 3-2 win over Sweden that put England on the brink of qualification. However, the work is not done yet according to Carroll, who is expected to be on the bench for the match against Ukraine due to the return of Wayne Rooney from suspension.

‘We think we can finish the job against Ukraine. We are confident, especially with Rooney coming back – it’s like Luis Suarez for Liverpool. We showed what we are about against Sweden after going behind and have put ourselves in with a good chance of qualifying. Things are in our hands. We will just need a point on Tuesday but we will go there and try and get the win. That’s the way we are and approach games. Wayne is fantastic, he is back involved now and it is great for us and it is great for him,” said Andy Carroll ahead of the match with Ukraine, who need a win to progress to the next round.

CARROLL FIRES LIVERPOOL THROUGH

Andy Carroll, the Liverpool striker headed a winner in the 87th minute to secure a 2 – 1 win against Everton on Saturday at the Wembley stadium. This is the 1st time since he arrived for $ 56 million transfer fee; the forward has scored in back to back games.

Carroll told that this is the best feeling of all time. He has been criticized but he just kept on going. It is a nice feeling to get the winner here and he believes in himself every-day.  The winner at the Wembley was Carroll’s 10th goal in 51 appearances for Liverpool. His poor form has been a key point of Liverpool’s Premier League struggles.

With Manchester United not taking part in a game till Sunday, the highlight on the FA Cup and the Anfield based team would be struck by the sudden firing of Damien Comolli, the director of soccer just 2 days before the semi final match. Damien paid the price of a hapless league campaign in spite of controlling over the expenditure of over $ 180 million on footballers in just more than a year. The most expensive footballer was Carroll, who cleared the winner against Blackburn on Tuesday night. But in the game against Everton, the England footballer waffled with the goal.

After the game, the former Newcastle United player told that he had some chances and must have probably scored earlier. But he kept at it and this was a great ball in by Craig, and he just had to score with that one and he just did that.
