CAROLL: ENGLAND NATIONAL TEAM CAREER

Tall striker Andy Caroll made his debut for England at u-19 level in September 2007 and he celebrated the occasion with a goal. Carroll scored one of the goals in the 4-0 thrashing of Belarus in his first game for the u-19s. Andy Carroll received a call-up to the England u-20 team on March 12, 2009 ahead of the Italy game only for him to be withdrawn from the squad. Caroll was replaced by Hal Robson-Kanu.

Carroll was invited to the England u-21 team on the 5^th of August, 2009 and he made his debut six days later. The striker played his first game for the England u-21s against the Netherlands after coming on as a substitute in the second half. For his second game for the England u-21s, Andy Carroll scored a brace plus an assist against Macedonia in a game that ended 6-3 in favour of his team. Caroll was the star of the show as the two teams served up a nine-goal thriller.

Andy Carroll was rewarded for his good form at club level with a place in the England senior team. The tall striker was in very good form for Newcastle United and this earned him a spot in the England squad ahead of the international friendly meeting with France on November 17, 2010. Carroll had to go through a late fitness test to start the game against the French team for his first taste of international football at senior level.

Carroll scored two goals in nine England appearances during his time with the team. His first goal came against West African nation Ghana in a friendly game played on March 29, 2011. Andy Carroll scored the only England goal in a 1-1 draw against the Ghanaians. His second and last England goal came during the 3-2 group stage win over Sweden at Euro 2012.
